Sometimes called Los Cerritos/Virginia Country Club, or sometimes just Country Club, this is an affluent neighborhood nestled in the larger area of Bixby Knolls. This neighborhood features one of the oldest gated communities in Long Beach, La Linda, and has been used for on-site filming for a variety of films, including Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Donnie Darko, and American Pie, among others.
The Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site is in the heart of this district, preserving one of the last surviving two-story adobe constructions in Southern California. An exclusive members-only 18-hole golf course opened up here in 2015, complimenting the area’s four tennis courts.
The community is very close-knit, coming together for neighborhood events from caroling to block parties to dinners, and everything in between.
This is one of the most desirable areas in Long Beach, and as a result one of the most expensive. The houses in the north are built on lots 12,000 sq. ft. or more. To the south, lots are a more standard size. As many of the homes are on custom lots, there is no set architectural style, but the area does have a distinct All-American feel. Prices in this area may range as high as $2.5 million.
