El Dorado Park Estates is a small community spanning about one square mile. It is situated between the 605 Freeway to the west, Norwalk Boulevard to the east, Spring Street to the south. The northern edge is against the Long Beach city limit.
This neighborhood is named for the 805 acre El Dorado Park, which features a wide range of recreational services including a golf course and nature center, and is home to a library, animal shelter, and senior center. The park hosts many events throughout the year, especially in summer. There are shopping centers within a few minutes drive, as well as easy access to small businesses and restaurants.
The homes in this area were built between 1963 and 1974, originally constructed by S&S Construction, now known as Shapell Industries, making most of the homes here single-family units. With low crime, shaded streets, and minimal traffic, this is a comfortable community to live in. While condo prices are near $300,000, the median price for homes is $764,000, with the upper range climbing into the $900,000 range.
